Socks - A Useful Smuggling Aid

Claude the Ferret, playing with
socks in which he was smuggled
A 50-year-old garments businessman was arrested by the Customs department at the Indira Gandhi International airport Thursday night for having concealed 37,000 micro data cards in his socks.
Customs officials had received a tip-off before he boarded the flight, but when his hand bags were checked, nothing was found. Mystified, they continued with a body search and found 42 small packets of Micro SD cards inside his socks.
This is not the first time socks have been used to smuggle things through customs. Only this week, customs officials have had to find new homes for three chinchillas, two ferrets and a conga eel after they were discovered in the socks of a celebrity TV chef.
