Forensic scientists investigating the disturbingly large number of sock disappearences recently, have come up with the following facts :
- Missing socks can cost £240 a year per household.
- A family of four will lose up to sixty socks every year.
- Ski socks, football socks and walking socks are equally as likely to vanish.
- 82 per cent of young men say they'll end up wearing odd socks at least once a week.
- Missing socks are most likely to affect the male members of the household.
- Northern men, in Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds are top of the list as the most likely victims of sock disappearances.
- Black socks are the most likely socks to go missing.
- Only 21 per cent of women regularly lose socks in the wash.
- Wearing two pairs of socks means you are twice as likely to loose at least one of them in the laundry process, than if you wear one pair.
