Some disturbing sock facts

A forensic scientist in the process
of investigating the mysterious
disappearence of a pair of black
socks in Liverpool this week.

Forensic scientists investigating the disturbingly large number of sock disappearences recently, have come up with the following facts :

  • Missing socks can cost £240 a year per household.
  • A family of four will lose up to sixty socks every year.
  • Ski socks, football socks and walking socks are equally as likely to vanish.
  • 82 per cent of young men say they'll end up wearing odd socks at least once a week.
  • Missing socks are most likely to affect the male members of the household.
  • Northern men, in  Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds are top of the list as the most likely victims of sock disappearances.
  • Black socks are the most likely socks to go missing.
  • Only 21 per cent of women regularly lose socks in the wash.
  • Wearing two pairs of socks means you are twice as likely to loose at least one of them in the laundry process, than if you wear one pair.
